This is a nice pair of healing crystals. The smaller is an amphibole quartz crystal from Brazil and the longer is a hematite included crystal from China. The work together on the physical body. This is a great pair for healing sessions. Weight is for the pair combined, dimensions are for the longer crystal.

Generally seen in large clusters with rosettes of hematite comprising the matrix, I was rather excited to find these single crystals in Tucson. I always like to experience the energy of a crystal group before offering it on the site when I can, and this seemed the most economical way to go about it! From the Guangdong Province, China, these crystals are stained red and black by the oxidation of their hematite bases. Not yet fully formed as phantoms, the oxidation is a layer that is being enclosed in the quartz as it grows. As you turn the crystal, you can see on the shaft where the luster signals the presence of red quartz. The red iron areas have a dusty feel, and washing too much will remove the red color leaving nearly colorless quartz beneath.

Taking millions of years to form, quartz crystals are all very ancient and we share the benefit of their wisdom. While these crystals are very old, they feel very young, and at an interesting point in their development. These are crystals creating their phantom layers, they are at a milestone in their lives that will be marked by the red hematite. What a blessing to be able to share! Singing crystals, they tink beautifully when they touch. They speak to me of beginnings, and creation. They are very root chakra and physical-being oriented, life in its primal forms.

We are told that the reason for the rarity of these crystals is that they are gathered only in the dry season, when the farmers of the area cannot work their crops. Some tend to exhibit wispy inclusions in hues of red/orange and yellow. Amphiboles are defined as hydrated double silicate minerals including Hornblende and several types of asbestos, containing various combinations of sodium, calcium, magnesium, iron, hematite, limonite, kaolin and aluminum. These amphiboles were formed with incredible heat (1200-1700 degrees Fahrenheit) and pressure, and sometimes exhibit chatoyancy as well. Interestingly, the crystal surrounding the amphibole inclusions was produced at a much lower temperature of between 550-570 degrees Fahrenheit, long after the amphiboles formed.

Angel quartz crystals or amphibole quartz crystals are those which have layers of hydrated, double silicate minerals such as Hornblende and Asbestos, whose white "feathery wisps" formed the "phantom peaks" within the crystal, resembling Angel wings. They are a wonderful compliment to those who are beginning to work with the entities and energies of the Angelic Realms, and in fact seem to attract them, along with others of the same mind who are working with the ethereal realms. In addition, the Hornblende helps to shield one from the abrasiveness of others making this a wonderful stone for protection, especially for those who are being emotionally or verbally abused.
