This is a lovely dark morion cluster, petite yet strong. The faces are covered with record keepers. They foster cohesiveness when working in groups, drawing on individuals strengths to make a whole. I practically fell on these lovely rich smoky morion quartz crystals from Namibia. Their color is completely natural, looking almost black in the hand, but just glow with rich color when held to the light. They all have a very unusual and distinct laser shape, wider at the base and a little narrower in depth than width. These crystals have profound grounding and protective energy keeping you in the here and now. They are companion crystals that will assist you on your soul's path.
A crystal that has pyramidal or triangular shaped symbols that are either engraved into or are raised on one or more of a crystal faces is called a Record Keeper (RK) or Recorder. These symbols are not easily seen and usually need to be searched out by looking at the crystal in a bright light while closely examining the faces. It is believed that the Record Keeper is one of the most sacred crystals because it holds the wisdom and knowledge of the universe. A sister to smokey quartz, Morion quartz is very rare black quartz and is formed through natural radiation caused by near by uranium deposits. Morion itself is not radioactive and is safe to carry. True morion quartz is rare and frequently black quartz is recreated by irradiating quartz in commercial settings. While similar physical results occur, the crystals have a much different feel. Natural morion quartz retains some translucence when held up to the light, while altered quartz does not. Protect their deep color from sun exposure as they will fade black to gray under prolonged exposure. "Morions" were a type of helmet used around the time of the Conquistadors, which speaks to the stone's protective and shielding qualities. Their energy assists you in shadow work, aid you to face the dark aspects of self and to dissipate self-imposed obstacles. They reconnect you to yourself, assisting you to be true in thought and actions. They are very calming when you feel overwhelmed and are comforting in times of grief. They can also dispel nausea, dizziness, and shortness of breath due to anxiety attacks.
