This is a nice hand sized freeform of polychrome jasper. Missing the typical red hues common in polychrome jasper, this stone has subdued tones of silver-grey and tan, making me think of stormy ocean skies and shoreline. Polychrome Jasper is a beautiful form of jasper that has nice earth tones with hues of red. It helps to bring balance into a person's life and helps to align the chakras. Polychrome Jasper is relatively rare and one of the few places it has been found is Madagascar. It is a variety of Chalcedony mixed with Quartz displaying an array of color and pattern variations. It is often used for dowsing because it provides stabilizing energy.
Jasper is a cryptocrystalline variety of quartz, which means the individual crystals are too small to be seen except by powerful magnification. Jasper has a wide variety of colors and patterns depending on the trace elements trapped within the structure. The energy tends to be broad and softer than crystal forms of quartz.
